Creating User Accounts on Windows Vista |

1. To get started you need to click on the start button and then select Control Panel, a window will open up with many options. Click on the one labeled Parental Controls and the window below will open. |

Click on Create a new user account |

Type in a user name, this is unique to the computer and is not a screen name for the Internet, so their name is fine. |

Checking this box requires the new user to create their password the first time they logon. |

Check On to enforce parental controls |

Click here to collect information on the new user computer usage |

You can select to allow or block websites.
Edit the list of blocked or allowed websites by clicking on this link |

You can choose to have the system filter the sites by checking this option |
|
You can prevent downloading files by clicking here |
|
You can limit when the user can use the computer by clicking on individual time blocks that you do not want the user to be able to access the computer. Whey they attempt to login outside of the allowed times they are denied access. |

Clicking on these options will allow you to configure different aspects of the users access. All are described below |

You can control if the user can play games on the computer and the rating level of the games if you are going to allow them to play.

This box allows you to block usage of individual programs on the computer. |
