Creating User Accounts on Windows XP |

1. Click on Start |
|
2. Click on Control Panel |

Note: If the window doesn’t appear similar to what is shown below there will be an option to view icons, click on that to get a window similar to this one |

3. Click on User Accounts |

4. Click on Create a new account |
|
5. Create a name for the account, for this example it’s The Kids, then click on Next |

6. Check Limited Note what the user will be able to do Then click on Create Account
|

The account is now created but we need to control access to the main account (Owner or Administrator) by setting a password. If you don’t have it password protected anyone can use that account with no restrictions. So click on the Owner or Administrator account, then Create a password |

Create your password. When creating a password don’t use something that someone like your kids can easily guess or figure out. They will just access the main account to have full access. When done filling in the blocks click on Create password |

You have created an account for your kids and password protected your access. You can repeat the process for each child if you want to set up one for each of them. You can also have it so they have to use a password to get to their account by repeating the process outlined above. |
